Agricultural Land and Industry Development Strategy

Department of Planning & Environment (NSW)

The NSW Department of Planning & Environment (DPE) engaged RMCG to prepare Agricultural Land and Industry Development Strategies for the Central West and Orana and Murray-Murrumbidgee regions.

Our approach for this project included analysis of available statistical data (sourced from the Australian Bureau of Statistics), desktop review of regional and industry reports, agricultural land mapping and consultation with industry stakeholders and producers. This allowed us to identify and report on the current status and trends relevant to the main agricultural industries in the region, key issues facing producers and their industries and main drivers of change in these industries.

A report was developed for the key agricultural industries in each region and presented to the Project Reference Group. The reports were finalised following incorporation of feedback from the Project Reference Group. The reports are being used by DPE to inform development of the Regional Growth Plans for Central West and Orana and Murray-Murrumbidgee.
